Legal Requirements
- Couples can get married the day they arrive in the Cayman Islands.
- A Non-Resident Marriage License is required. This can be obtained from the Deputy Chief Secretary. The total cost of the marriage licence is US $200.
- The application form for the marriage includes the names of each party, home addresses, address while staying in the Caymans and name of the marriage officer performing the ceremony.
- Couples will also need to present proof of legal entry to the Cayman Islands (pink slip given at the airport or cruise ship boarding pass). Valid passports or original birth certificates (or certified copies) AND photo ID are also required. Photocopies are not acceptable.
- All marriages must be attended by a marriage officer. A list of marriage officers can be obtained from the Deputy Chief Secretary’s Office. Arrangements with the marriage officer must be made before filling in the application form.
- The licence can be obtained on the day the application is submitted. Telephone for an appointment to ensure speedy processing.
- The minimum age to marry without parental consent is 18.
- Two witnesses must be present at the ceremony.
- Marriages must take place between 6 am and 8 pm.
- Licensing laws do not allow live music to be played on Sundays at venues licensed to serve alcohol.
