Prince Edward, the youngest child and third son of Queen Elizabeth II, will be visiting the Cayman Islands February 3 – 6 2007. It will be his third visit to the islands in three years. His exact schedule has yet to be confirmed.
Grand Cayman’s Annual Turtle Release will take place on November 16 at the Public Beach. The annual event sees twenty young turtles introduced into the wild. It gets underway at 5 pm and is being organised by Boatswain’s Beach, the new home of the Turtle Farm.
Boatswain’s Beach will officially open its doors on November 1 with a gala hosted by the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association. The organisation is holding its annual Cruise Conference and Trade Show on the island from October 31 to November 3.
Grand Cayman’s annual culinary festival, the Taste of Cayman, will take place on the weekend commencing November 4 at Boatswain’s Beach. Visitors can sample local and international specialities from 40 of the island’s best restaurants at the Taste Restaurant Showcase and watch amateur and professional chefs compete in the Cayman Cook-Off. Tickets cost CI $40 and are available on the door.
Pirates Week, Grand Cayman’s largest annual festival, will run from November 9 – 19. Saturday November 11 sees a mock pirate invasion in George Town Harbour, followed by a float parade through the streets, and a food and drink festival in the evening. Other events include a underwater treasure hunt at Divetech (November 12) and a turtle release on the Public Beach (November 16).
The 3rd annual Cayman Jazzfest will be held November 30 to December 2. Acts scheduled to appear include:
