Boatswain’s Beach Opening

Boatswain’s Beach will officially open its doors on November 1 with a gala hosted by the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association. The organisation is holding its annual Cruise Conference and Trade Show on the island from October 31 to November 3.


New Wedding Gazebo at Pedro St James

A new, full-service wedding gazebo will be unveiled at Pedro St James tomorrow by Cayman’s Tourism Attraction Board.


Taste of Cayman 2006

Grand Cayman’s annual culinary festival, the Taste of Cayman, will take place on the weekend commencing November 4 at Boatswain’s Beach. Visitors can sample local and international specialities from 40 of the island’s best restaurants at the Taste Restaurant Showcase and watch amateur and professional chefs compete in the Cayman Cook-Off. Tickets cost CI $40 and are available on the door.


Pirates Week

Pirates Week, Grand Cayman’s largest annual festival, will run from November 9 – 19. Saturday November 11 sees a mock pirate invasion in George Town Harbour, followed by a float parade through the streets, and a food and drink festival in the evening. Other events include a underwater treasure hunt at Divetech (November 12) and a turtle release on the Public Beach (November 16).


Cayman Movie Released

Haven, a film set in Grand Cayman, went on limited release in the US yesterday. Directed by Caymanian Frank Flowers, the film has received mixed reviews. The opening sequence shows Shy, played by Orlando Bloom, cavorting with a female companion at Smith Cove.
